T5W: Books I want to see as TV shows

Hey, nerds! Guess who’s got two thumbs, speaks limited French, and finally remembered to post T5W this month?

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme that was createdย  by Lainey of gingerreadslainey and is currently hosted by Sam of ThoughtsOnTomes. Head over to this Goodreads group if you want to join in on the fun!

The topic for today’s T5W is Books You Want to See as TV Shows. Now, I love TV shows more than movies. And let’s face it, book to film adaptations suck. There are a lot of books/ book series I would love to see made into TV shows. The following are 5 of those.

1. The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling

200

All T5W-ers today will have this on their list. Sure, we have the movies but the Potterverse as a TV show? YASSS PLEASE! Give us Winky, give us Peeves, get rid of “DID YAH PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIRE?!”. Or a mini-series about the Marauders! Or..or, just episode after episode of Neville teaching Herbology lessons. Anything would do. Someone get JKR on the phone, please.

2. The Clifton Chronicles by Jeffrey Archer

2001

Somewhere between book 3 and 4, I gave up on this series. But, it would work great as a TV show. There’s lots of intrigue and twists in the tale to keep viewers hooked.

3. The Heather Wells series by Meg Cabot

2002

An ex pop star who lost all her money because her mom ran away with it and her manager becomes an assistant dorm director at a New York college. Oh, and she solves crimes. Why is this not a TV show already?

If you haven’t read it, check out the first book in the series: Size 12 Is Not Fat.

4. The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini

2003

After the disaster that was the Eragon movie, none of the Inheritance Cycle fans want the books to be turned into a movie franchise. But a TV show with the level of detail we see in the Game of Thrones series would definitely make us happy.

5. The Cormoran Strike series by Robert Galbraith (JKR!)

2004

This is a crime/ thriller series set in London. With a brilliant plot and excellent detailing about London, a TV show on this series would be amazing to watch!

So, what did you think of this post? Which book would you love to watch as a TV show? Let me know in the comments! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Yes to Harry Potter!! I don’t need more HP books, I need a HP show! I have yet to read one of the Cormoran Strike books but it does sound like they would make a good show. Also, I loved your intro for this meme ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. Completely agree on inheritance, but i wouldn’t even mind if they attempted to the movies again but with actually taking notice of the major characters in the books and paying more attention to detail. Obviously detail is easier accomplished in tv shows
