Listicle

The 7 stages you go through while buying books online

Hiya, nerds!

I’m back with a new listicle! You already know the contents of the list because this is something you go through over and over again.

Nothing beats buying books in an actual bookstore. But online shopping helps you buy as many books as you want and you don’t even have to wear pants while doing so! However, this makes you occasionally buy books without meaning to just because of how easily accessible e-commerce is. The following are points you will agree with if you ever ordered books in spite of a self-imposed book buying ban.

Stage 1: Just looking.

This. This starts off all your troubles. Or bookish heaven. Depends on how you look at it. Or your mom in the case of the former.

Do you remember when, this morning, you were so bored at work, you thought you’d just look at Amazon for a few minutes? And then, you ended up ordering four books? FOUR BOOKS!

I know what you’re thinking. This is oddly specific, almost like someone *coughs* went through this. Ahem.

You need help! So do I, but let’s just look at you now. πŸ˜›

Stage 2: “Let me add to cart. Just to see what it adds up to.”

You: “Oh, I’m just adding to cart for no reason. Really. I have a lot of self control. I will not buy this many books.”

Stage 3: Oops! Clicked “buy”.

Seriously? You did not see it ending like this? You have no control, woman! Cue the waves and waves of disappointment.

Let me say it again. You need help.

Stage 4: Regret

You spend a few more seconds where you regret your poor choices.

Stage 5: Happi-yourorderisdispatched-ness

You recover pretty quickly from the regret because BOOKS! And a few days later you hear they’ve been dispatched!

Stage 6: When your order is out for delivery.

Let me drop everything I was doing because OMG MY BABIES ARE COMING!

2007

Stage 7: When your books finally arrive.

And you rip through the packaging to deeply sniff through each book.

You’ve forgotten all your regrets now and are already back on Amazon, “just looking”.

Almost all levels on the emotions chart are covered in between “just looking” and getting your books delivered. All the disappointment about your utter lack of self control flies right out the window because MONEY JUST BOUGHT YOU SO MUCH HAPPINESS, DAMMIT!

What did you think of the list? Do you agree with it? Or would you like to add more points to it? Let me know in the comments! πŸ™‚
